Interests and Achievements

Scouting

I was an Explorer Scout until Summer 2022 and had been in Scouting since the age of 6. During my time with the 35th Lepton Scout Group, I worked towards and achieved all 3 of the Chief Scout's awards, Bronze, Silver and Gold. I have also achieved my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award. In September 2023, I returned to Scouting as an Assistant Scout Leader.

My time in Scouting has taught me many important skills like teamwork, patience, and how to be prepared. From being the leader of my "Six" in Cubs as well as the Patrol Leader of my "Patrol" in Scouts, both positions have taught me leadership and the ability to talk people through tasks calmly and slowly. It has allowed me to work collaboratively with ease, as well as keep calm when approached by difficult people.

Professional Development

Over the last year, I have completed multiple skill courses from the Google Cloud Platform Skill courses, allowing me to become comfortable with the service. I intend to complete more in the future, as well as other courses from other providers.

Life-saving

Outside Scouting, I have also worked through the Rookies life-saving programme, completing the highest level (Gold 3) in June of 2019.

Work Experience/Volunteering

The Duke of Edinburgh scheme involved 6 months of volunteering. I volunteered at the College of the Resurrection Libraries (Mirfield). Work tasks included shelving books; checking academic reading lists; changing catalogue records on the Library Computer System and checking books have been returned properly. Since doing those 6 months of volunteering, I have continued to volunteer every year during the summer for the last 3 years.
